Our vision for Imsoo is to create a mini sustainable village.

#IMSOOGIRLS: WOMEN AND ARTISAN COMMUNITIES
As a women-owned brand, we envision a team of strong women steering Imsoo. We see ourselves supporting and uplifting more women by generating skill-based opportunities to help them support themselves and their families. We are also keen on working with local artisan communities to explore and sustain diverse crafts of India.

OUR MUSE: MOTHER NATURE
As creatives, we derive inspiration from the environment around us. Our biggest muse has been the nature, and we believe that thriving nature is directly proportional to the survival of a flourishing creative mind. Therefore, it is not just conscientious but also paramount to be kind to the planet, and this motivates us towards our goal of circular waste management even more strongly than ever. Our vision is to create a system of segregation and management such that every last thread is up-cycled or recycled and no component involved in the manufacturing process goes to waste.

ETHICAL WORKSPACE - COMMUNITY BUILDING
With collaboration at its core, we dream of Imsoo as an ethical workspace which invites and embraces like-minded individuals to express their creativity without feeling burnt out. Fashion industry is infamous for its toxic work culture and cut-throat environment. We aim to provide safe, positive and ethical workspace for the people working with us.

SUSTAINABILITY IS FUN
Imsoo was born out of our desire to create freely. Our love for textiles and all things colour gave Imsoo its aesthetic language. Dopamine dressing is our mantra. Our goal is to design and create fun and fashion-forward clothing and products, utilising every last scrap of fabric. Sustainability is not just a “catch-phrase” for us. We believe that it is a quintessential part of our ethos. Sustainable practices and upcycling/recycling does not have to be monotonous and colourless. We want to break the association of sustainability with tasteless pastels and monotone colours.

WHERE WE STAND TODAY?
As a fairly young brand, we are slowly moving towards bringing our vision to life, one step at a time. We believe that consistent growth in a conscious direction is the only key to bring the change that we have envisioned through Imsoo. We have a long way to go, however, we are proud of the baby steps we have taken so far.
1. We are currently working with NGO for people with disabilities; called MESH - Maximising Employment to Serve the Handicapped to up-cycle our production waste and turn it into fun and functional products. This informs our commitment to supporting local artisan communities while also managing the waste responsibly.
2. We are working with women-owned businesses who share our vision of sustainability by supporting small-batch productions to minimise dead-stock waste . We are also working with women kaarigars to create products out of our production waste by teaching them the techniques and generating employment.
3. We want to foster a community of like-minded creative people who work in sync with nature. We believe that collaboration is the key to building strong societies and therefore, we collaborated with a chain of conscious cafes, GREENR to exchange ideas and values.
As designers of tomorrow, we feel responsible for needing to bring a change by being a part of the fashion industry and transforming it from within.
Breaking the stereotypical norms and age-old conventional systems along with the ingrained working culture of such a huge industry is neither easy nor swift. We understand that building a community that we have dreamt of is going to be a marathon and we are not afraid to embrace this challenge head-on.
Join us in our journey for a better tomorrow!
